Last year Alpha Plus Group signed an agreement with a UK registered charity, United World Schools (UWS), whose mission is to “teach the unreached” in rural areas of Cambodia, Myanmar and Nepal. Wetherby Prep and Wetherby Senior School have been working hard to fundraise in support of a new UWS school in Taboung Kla, Cambodia, an undeveloped rural area that has been using an unsafe building without amenities as a school. Through various events such bake sales and Mufti days, Wetherby Prep School  raised an incredible £11k for UWS last year. Wetherby Senior School has also been fundraising through events such as a staff pantomime and students participating in a sponsored silence. The school is continuing to raise funds for UWS.

We were delighted to have received news this month that the Taboung Kla School has now been built and recently opened. The school held an opening ceremony, including an official ‘ribbon-cutting,’ attended by local dignitaries and government officials. At least 85 children now have access to learn in a safe environment complete with furniture, resources and trained teachers.
