| John Withers, Headmaster John Withers is originally from Barry in South Wales, but was educated at Taunton School in Somerset and the College of St Mark and St John, Plymouth, where he studied for a B.A. Hons in Humanities, specialising in geography and history. Following university John spent a year teaching English in a language school in Orense in North West Spain. On his return to the UK he worked in management for Marks and Spencer, before returning to his true vocation of teaching. John joined Hilden Grange in 1985 as Head of Geography and P.E.; he was appointed Joint Headmaster in 1990 and became sole Head in 1999. His four sons have all attended Hilden Grange before moving on to local independent secondary schools. Hilden Grange Preparatory School was founded in 1929 and recently celebrated its 80th anniversary. Boys and girls are educated at the delightful North Tonbridge location between the ages of 3 and 13. The school enjoys a strong academic reputation, preparing boys and girls for entry to a range of independent and maintained sector schools at 11 and 13. Hilden Grange has a friendly and purposeful atmosphere. It is a family orientated, unpretentious and highly creative environment in which children flourish and strive to fulfil their potential at work and at play. |
