Jeans for Genes

Alpha Plus Group is delighted to announce that Jeans for Genes, the much-loved UK children’s charity, is to become our official partner charity. www.jeansforgenes.com

Every year 30,000 children in the UK are born with a genetic disorder. That is the equivalent of one in every 25 or one in every class.

 Jeans for Genes raises money to provide support services that improve children’s day to day quality of life. This might be through a powered wheelchair, a visit from a specialist nurse or a weekend making friends with children affected by the same condition. Jeans for Genes also invests in research to increase understanding about the causes of genetic disorders and help identify treatments and cures for these conditions.

Alpha Plus Group is asking all of its schools to hold a Jeans for Genes Day each October to help raise vital funds that are needed for the charity’s work.

In addition, Alpha Plus schools are partnering with Jeans for Genes on the development of their educational programme, Genes Are Us www.genesareus.org. Teachers from across the years participate in research panels and undertake pilots of materials in schools to ensure that these resources deliver on their learning objectives before they are made available to a wider audience.
